“Design isn’t just about making things beautiful, it’s about making things work beautifully” – Roger L Martin

Many portfolios focus on the visual aspects of design, but that’s just one part of the work I do. Over 20 years of design I’ve worked in every aspect of UX, some of which are illustrated below.

  • Requirements capture

A solid set of requirements underpins good design, and this is something I’ve done in most of the contracts I’ve worked on.

  • User research and testing

User research and testing are fundamental to design, and have been a significant part of almost every role I’ve had.

  • Working with Agile

Agile working and UX don’t always go together, but at Dynamic Planner I was able to introduce UX in a way that delivered both good design and effective collaboration.

  • Design systems | Defence

At General Dynamics I created a design system and tools that made prototyping faster and easier, and strengthened relationships between the design and development teams.

  • End to end UX: Risk profiling

I worked on a risk profiling system for a client, from defining the requirements, managing stakeholders, and designing the solution.

  • Legal design

Shrap, a startup app designed to remove the need for cash, wanted to redesign their terms of service to make them easier to understand and let customers be better informed.

  • Design systems | Desktop

I worked with a desktop software company to create a design system to help the company to scale while improving their UX.

  • End to end UX: AccessAdvice

This responsive website for ISA advice was a great example of how a solid, end to end UX process can help create an effective solution.
